Sunlight

Place your Kalanchoe in an area with plenty of bright, indirect sunlight.

A little gentle direct sunlight can be beneficial, particularly during the cooler parts of the day. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense midday sun, which may damage or scorch the foliage.

Watering

Kalanchoe is a succulent and prefers its soil to dry partially between waterings.

Check the soil before watering. When the upper layer feels dry, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely.

Avoid allowing the pot to remain continuously wet or waterlogged, as excessive moisture may cause root rot. Where possible, water directly onto the soil rather than repeatedly wetting the leaves and flowers.

Temperature

Kalanchoe generally performs well in temperatures of approximately 16°C–29°C (60°F–85°F).

Protect the plant from extreme heat, prolonged cold conditions and strong drafts.

Soil & Drainage

Kalanchoe grows best in light, well-draining soil suitable for succulents or cacti.

Good drainage is particularly important, as the roots should not remain in excessively wet soil for extended periods.

Feeding

During periods of active growth, a balanced water-soluble fertilizer may be applied at a reduced strength according to the fertilizer instructions.

Avoid excessive feeding. During periods of slower growth, fertilizing can be reduced accordingly.

Pruning & Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and any dry, yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain a clean and healthy appearance.

Lightly trimming or pinching back overgrown stems can also encourage a fuller, more compact plant.

Propagation

Kalanchoe can be propagated using healthy stem cuttings.

Allow the cut end to dry and callus for a short period before planting it in suitable, well-draining soil. Keep watering light while the cutting begins establishing roots.

A Natural Flowering Plant

Your Kalanchoe may arrive fully bloomed, partially bloomed, or with unopened buds. This is completely natural and depends on the plant’s individual flowering stage at the time of purchase.

Plants arriving with buds can gradually open and develop their colour under suitable growing conditions.
